Maxis and Celcom to launch BlackBerry Bold in Malaysia

RIM has made waves by launching BlackBerry Bold smartphone with two leading operators in Malaysia. Maxis which is named Asian Mobile Operator of the Year 2007 and Celcom which has the widest network coverage covering 98% of the populated areas in the country have announced to offer BlackBerry Bold smartphone in Malaysia.

Blackberry Bold features aGPS and Wi-Fi, a sophisticated new interface, a stunning display and a newly designed QWERTY keyboard. With rich multimedia functionality, BlackBerry Bold offers a 2-megapixel camera, digital zoom and video recording. It has a half-VGA (480×320 resolution) color LCD which is fused to the under surface of the lens which makes images and videos appear with stunning definition and clarity. BlackBerry Bold is the first BlackBerry smartphone which support tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks.

Celcom will offer this phone at retail price of RM 2,499 while for Maxis subscribers will be available at the price of RM 2,199. Both Celcom and Maxis will offer the BlackBerry Bold in late September.
