QUALCOMM and NTELOS Announce Plan to Provide Wireless Subscribers with a Web Portal to Deliver Mobile Content
SAN DIEGO — QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and mobile data solutions, and NTELOS, (Nasdaq: NTLS), a leading provider of wireless communications services in Virginia and West Virginia, today announced plans to launch the first BREW® Consumer Portal.
The new portal will complement NTELOS’s existing BREW data services and will allow NTELOS to offer its subscribers the browsing for, and selection of, BREW applications and services over a Web-based storefront. In addition to providing a new avenue for subscribers to discover and download BREW applications, the BREW Consumer Portal provides NTELOS with the means to better promote content best suited to its subscribers. NTELOS expects to make this service available to NTELOS subscribers later this year.
The BREW Consumer Portal provides both an Internet shopping portal that wireless subscribers can use to discover and download mobile content, and an administrative portal to manage the content that is displayed and available for download. Once a user selects an application or service, the content is delivered to the mobile device via the BREW Delivery System. Operators can also use the back-end administrative portal to manage the shopper portal user interface, allowing them to configure the site’s appearance and the information made available to end users through shopper portal icons, banners, graphics information and the overall BREW Consumer Portal main page presentation. The BREW Consumer Portal supports both pre-pay and post-pay billing methods for increased content purchasing.
The BREW Consumer Portal was presented on June 21 at the BREW 2007 Conference during NTELOS’ speaker session entitled ????Web-to-Handset Delivery with BREW Consumer Portal.????
