In the midst of various reports regarding an investigation of mobile phone rechargeable batteries by the Guangdong Province Ministry of Industry, Republic of China, wherein was reported that some batteries did not fulfill adequate safety standards, SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO)’s name was mentioned.

Upon an investigation that was conducted to determine the validity of the reports, it was determined and proven from the label of the batteries in question that they were not only different models, but also had incorrect manufacturing dates. Therefore, they were not genuine SANYO Group-made batteries.

Regarding this matter, SANYO expresses its disapproval of another company or group using SANYO’s name for products representing low-safety, and will work together with the Chinese government to intensify counter-measures to prevent imitation or fake goods.
