Sony Ericsson to expand its portfolio with G705 and G705u slider phones
Sony Ericsson today introduced two new phones in slider form factor with an elegant design. The difference between the G705 and G705u is, that G705u is the first UMA handset by Sony Ericsson which enables users to seamlessly roam between the mobile network and local area networks thanks to GSM/Wi-Fi dual capabilities. The G705u also wears the Orange logo so will be sold through that carrier. Of course, both versions have the same specifications: a large 2,4″ 262k colour TFT screen with 240 x 320 pixels, a 3.2 megapixel camera with up to 3.2x digital zoom, Bluetooth stereo with A2DP, Wi-Fi, USB, media player, FM radio, full HTML browser, and RSS and photo feeds support.
Measuring 95 x 47 x 14.3 mm and weighing 98g, The G705 and G705u support GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSDPA 2100 and also have built-in aGPS function. Sony Ericsson plans to launch the G705 model in Q4 2008 in Silky Gold or Majestic Black variant while the G705u for Orange will be available from early Q4 2008 in Luminous Black. American market will get the G705 model in early Q1 2009 which will support GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSUPA 850/1900/2100 networks. Manufacturer has not released price tags of these phones yet.
