Tegic XT9 Comes to Mass-Market Handsets

Published: Feb 15th, 2007 | Author: Roman

AOL subsidiary Tegic Communications has announced from 3GSM this week that its XT9 predictive text system, as seen on Windows Mobile devices, will be available on mass-market handsets with standard 12-key mobile phone keypads. The Tegic T9 predictive system is found on many handsets on the market today, and XT9 brings great enhancements to an already handy interface.

The two features that will most appeal to end users are the word prediction list and integrated spelling correction. Word prediction has long been seen on Windows Mobile devices, as well as in the iTap system used on Motorola handsets, and works by predicting the next word in a sentence based on the word just entered.

The Tegic XT9 system is available for manufacturers to integrate into handsets now, with devices expected to be announced soon.
